The Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) qualification is ideal for schools and businesses whose risk assessment identifies that there is no requirement for a fully trained first aider in the workplace.
This course is delivered in line with HSE guidelines (October 2017) and meets the requirements of the First Aid at Work Regulations 1981 and subsequent updates. The course runs over a minimum of 6 contact hours in one day and the certificate is valid for three years.
The qualification is accepted in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland and in many other countries.
Course content includes:
- Role and responsibilities of a first aider
- Initial safety and casualty care
- Unconscious casualty (adult, child and infant)
- AED instruction
- Choking
- Bleeding control
- Heart attack
- Diabetes
- Epilepsy
- Fractures, sprains and strains
- Shock
- Minor injuries including cuts, grazes, bruises, burns, scalds and splinters
